Whodunnit? The Tibetans Or the Uyghurs?

Sadly, someone with a grudge against the Chinese government made a statement by blowing up two to three (depends on the news source) buses in Kunming this morning. The Olympics will not be the same and the lives of the Tibetan and Uyghur people in China will no longer be the same, at least for the rest of this year.

The Tibetans and Uyghurs will automatically be the prime suspects. Judging by the small blasts in the photos, the terrorists seem like domestic small-timers with no outside help from more professional and international groups.

This is all speculation, but my gut reaction is that this was the work of pissed off Tibetan students. But what I suspect is that the Chinese authorities will pin some or all of the blame on Uyghurs just so that there is an excuse to clamp down on them even more. Developments and reactions in the next few weeks will be interesting, and scary. Let's hope this act of terrorism is an anomaly and that no one else gets hurt.
