Lizards at The Coffee Shack (South Kona Coast)

Though The Coffee Shack along the South Kona Coast did not make it on my Big Island top five eateries list, it is definitely worth a visit. It's just south of Captain Cook, between mile markers 108 and 109 on the makai side. The breakfasts are terrific and reasonably priced. Aside from its great food and proximity to Hotel Manago, our usual inn of choice, we go there often because of its lizards.

I don't know how many little green lizards live at and near The Coffee Shack, but there are a lot of them. They hang out on the wooden lanai and love to eat little tins of jelly left out by patrons. These photos by myheartsiiings on flickr perfectly capture the little critters.
